Extraordinary budget approved for ¢14 billion

September 6, 2019 by Staff News Writer

This Thursday, with 42 votes in favor, the Legislative Assembly approved in the first reading the fourth extraordinary budget for a total of ¢14 billion.

Of the total resources, most (¢6.8 billion) are for the service of public debt and for the Comprehensive Agricultural Marketing Program (PIMA), to which ¢2.5 billion will be transferred for construction, equipment and installation of the Regional Wholesale Market of the Chorotega Region.

They follow ¢1.8 million to the Ministry of Public Education (MEP) for hiring cooks and buying food for schools and ¢1 billion to the Ministry of Labor and Social Security for infrastructure works in indigenous areas and for unemployed population care in Limón.

In the bill, budget modifications are authorized for ¢2.1 billion.
