Fabricio Alvarado’s Vice President was also elected legislator for San José

February 8, 2018 by Staff News Writer

Ivonne Acuña is a candidate for the first vice-presidency of the National Restoration party, which seeks to hold the presidential chair with Fabricio Alvarado. But she was also elected as a legislator.

Acuña occupied the fourth place for San José and achieved the seat. She is part of the 14 legislators that the party will take to Congress, to be the second force from 2018 to 2022. In case Fabricio Alvarado wins in the second round against Carlos Alvarado from the Citizen Action Party (PAC), Acuña must resign from one of the two positions.

When asked what decision she was going to make, Acuña replied

We have not talked about that yet. We have to wait and see what happens in the election.”

Although the Supreme Electoral Tribunal has not yet made official the results, it is almost a fact that Acuña has a confirmed seat.

After the election on Sunday, there has been much criticism around the elected legislators, mainly because of their lack of professional preparation to take on the challenge of reaching the Legislative Assembly.

However, the candidate defended his legislators, indicating that they were capable people elected by the people.
