Family of drug dealers was dismantled in Pavas

July 12, 2018 by Staff News Writer

A mother, her son, and her sentimental partner were part of a drug-family structure known as “Craqueros”. The three were arrested on Wednesday by agents of the Drug Control Police (PCD) of the Ministry of Public Security, at the San Juan de Rincón Grande farm, in Pavas de San José.

The woman named Morales is 34 years old has a record for crimes such as ideological falsehood, introduction of drugs to a criminal center, and drug transportation. Her partner, a 29-year-old man named Obando has a history of illegal possession of weapons, aggravated robbery, and drug transportation. The child, still a minor, has no record.

The PCD agents seized 146 doses of the drug, of which 72 were crack, 59 were marijuana, and 15 were cocaine. In addition 10.5 grams of marijuana seeds, 764,700 colones and 12 dollars in cash, as a result of the illicit sale of drugs, as well as two firearms, a scale, and implements for the preparation and packaging of drugs, were also confiscated.

The investigation of the PCD began on January 25th and culminated on July 11th, revealing that it was a family organization devoted to drug dealing in the vicinity of an educational center.

According to what Drug Control revealed, this clan was denounced twice before the confidential and free line of the PCD.

With this operation, the number of gangs dismantled by the PCD so far this year amounts to 71, eleven of which were engaged in international drug trafficking, while 60 of them were involved in local commerce, and 22 were narco-families.
