Family trapped in Barra del Colorado: “we did not hide and we are fine”

November 25, 2016 by Staff News Writer

According to security minister Gustavo Mata, about 5 citizens and 3 children had stayed in the community of Barra de Colorado because they hid when the officers of the Public Force arrived to evacuate them.

However, Sixto Hernández, one of the residents who did not want to leave the are, declared that they did not hide and informed that they are well.

He explained that he did not leave with the police because he planned to do it on his own later, but the weather did not permit it.

In addition, he felt distrusted on leaving his home because the authorities have not arrested several thieves who have stolen belongings valued at 7 million colones.

Except for some minor material damages, everything is in good condition despite the heavy downpours and gusts of wind that they had to endure for several hours due to hurricane Otto.
