Fed: “the institution could rise interest rates faster than expected”

January 5, 2017 by Staff News Writer

According to a report from The Federal Reserve System (Fed), the institution could rise interest rates faster than planned due to the “considerable uncertainty” regarding American president-elect Donald Trump’s fiscal stimulus plans.

Some members of the Fed agreed that a stimulus package could push demand beyond sustainable levels and that would make necessary to toughen the monetary policy before expected.

However, those members of the Fed admitted that it is too early to know how these policies would be implemented and how they could change the economic outlook.
