Former police officer arrested as part of organized crime gang

On Tuesday morning the Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) arrested 12 people linked to an organized crime gang. One of them was a former police officer named Urbina Obando, also known as “Tigre”.

Urbina is allegedly part of a gang responsible for killing two people, one by the name of Omier Taylor, known as “Tu-Pack”, who was shot in a taxi In San Francisco de Dos Ríos.

Walter Espinoza, director of the institution, said that for the murder of this subject, the suspects used a stolen vehicle.

It was a very violent criminal act and it was executed by people linked to criminal organizations in Limón with a vehicle stolen in Jacó on July 22nd 2015. We managed to also arrest the people involved in the theft of the vehicle,

said Espinoza, who referred to the raid as a success.
