Frantz: “pay attention to the tax reforms”

March 2, 2017 by Staff News Writer

After visiting Costa Rica, Douglas Frantz, Deputy-Secretary-General of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), urged authorities to pay attention to tax reforms that will allow the country to have a better economic development in the future.

Even though he acknowledged the progress the country has made while joining the agency, he was surprised by the lack of urgency to carry out the necessary reforms.

During his stay in Costa Rica, the official met with President Luis Guillermo Solís, as well as with Vice President and Minister of Finance Helio Fallas.

President Solís emphasized the commitment that his Government has had to the process of joining the OECD and took the opportunity to talk about the importance of approving the tax reforms, which have been waiting, for a long time, in the Legislative Assembly.
