Garabito was renewed as a sustainable tourism destination

October 8, 2018 by Staff News Writer

With the support of the Chamber of Tourism and Sustainable Trade of the Central Pacific (CATUCOSO), and the collaboration of the Municipality of the canton, Garabito recently celebrated its launch as a sustainable tourist destination, which is expected to consolidate as an excellent alternative for national and foreign visitors, as well as strengthen this activity, which represents one of the main components of the economy of the area.

The presentation event was held a few days ago with the participation of renowned national and international chefs, businessmen, journalists from different parts of the world, the affiliates of the Chamber, the Municipality, and other institutions.

We live from tourism, we are aware that we must work to avoid affecting our main source of work and, therefore, we are committed to making the canton more beautiful, cleaner, and safer. Jacó, Herradura, Tárcoles and Playa Hermosa are towns that steal your heart,”

said Juan Carlos Chávez, president of the Chamber.

“Garabito, Siéntelo” (Feel Garabito) is the slogan to seduce tourists and get them to visit the area to rediscover all its beauty, destinations, cuisine and nature.

For a year, the Chamber has worked together with its partners and authorities in the area to improve various aspects of the canton, such as security, cultural life, and cleanliness, among other aspects that make Garabito a renovated and sustainable destination.

The launch of the canton as a tourist destination meant more efforts to invite people to know Garabito, as a place with many attractions, such as its wide gastronomic and hotel offer, beach and mountain tours, adventures in the sea, aerial activities such as parasailing, the diversity of flora and fauna, surfing, and so much more.

Garabito is the 11th canton of the province of Puntarenas. It has a population of 22,767 inhabitants, and its main economic source is tourism.
