Goverment approves ¢500 million project requested by congressman

June 2, 2016 by Staff News Writer

The government included an allocation of 500 million colones in the extraordinary budget, which will be used to build the first stage of the municipal gymnasium of Paraiso in Cartago, the town of congressman Jorge Rodriguez, from the party Unidad Social Cristiana (PUSC).

When asked by the press, Rodriguez acknowledged that he had directly asked the president  for the money two years ago.

The inclusion of specific projects in the national budget was eliminated in 1998 because it promoted the exchange of favors between the executive and the congress.

During the discussion of the 2016 national budget, Rodriguez voted to approve it, while other members of his party opposed it.
