Government accuses 39 former officials of bonus payments

May 31, 2017 by Staff News Writer

Last Friday, the authorities of the Presidential House sent to the Comptroller General of the Republic a list of 39 former officials who received the payment of prohibition without meeting the requirements.

This was reported on Tuesday afternoon by the Minister of the Presidency, Sergio Alfaro, during the press conference after the Governing Council.

According to the hierarch, about 300 appointments of officials of the last three administrations were reviewed, from the administration of Abel Pacheco between 2002 and 2006, through the one of Oscar Arias and Laura Chinchilla.

We sent the report to the Comptroller’s Office to be the ones who investigate and resolve if there were any irregularities in payments. We sent it there because the Comptroller’s Office already declared in several cases that it has exclusive competence in the subject,”

said Alfaro.

The report was also sent to the Committee on Income and Public Expenditure of the Legislative Assembly, to be analyzed as well.
