Government and private sector will reward ideas to improve safety and reduce carbon footprint

May 24, 2019 by Staff News Writer

If you have an idea or project that you think can contribute to improve citizen security in the country or reduce your carbon footprint, this may interest you: The government and several private sector companies opened the third edition of the “Challenge Country” contest , which will reward initiatives in these fields, as well as approaches that improve access to culture and recreation.

The winners will have legal advice and technical support to develop their ideas.

The proposals can be delivered individually, as a group, or as an organization, that is, both individuals and companies can participate.

The requirements are very basic, according to the Presidency: you must live in Costa Rica and, in the case of being a minor, you must have a representative of legal age who supports the idea presented.

The ideas will be judged based on their level of innovation, potential to solve the related problem, sustainability of the idea in time, and scalability.

The reception of proposals starts on May 23rd and will be extended to July 11th.

The 16 applications with the best score will go on to a next stage: a weekend of workshops with training and advice for their projects, as well as advice from entrepreneurs, expert guidance, and support from organizations. Afterwards, they will have a temporary space to improve their proposals and present them to a specialized jury.

On August 29th, the five winning projects will be announced, and they will obtain the necessary technical support to begin developing their proposal.
