Government and unions will face each other on Wednesday

September 19, 2018 by Staff News Writer

The government and the unions will have a first approach this Wednesday, after a week of the general strike started by the public sector unions against the tax plan.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Executive Power clarified that this will be a preliminary meeting to the negotiation. In this meeting, the conditions will be established to start a dialogue that will lead to the end of strikes and blockades in different parts of the country.

Labor Minister Steven Nunez stressed that the government will not give in on its condition that the strike and blockades should be totally called off in order to advance the negotiations.

On Monday afternoon, the unions made it clear that they were willing to talk without putting off the strike.

The meeting will be at 9 am at the Archbishop’s House in downtown San José.
