Government appoints director of the Central Bank

On Tuesday, the Governing Council appointed economist Miguel Cantillo as a member of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Costa Rica.

Cantillo is a doctor and has a degree in Economics; he has worked as an economics professor at the University of Costa Rica, as an associate professor at IESE Business School in Spain, an assistant professor at the University of California at Berkeley, and as a visiting assistant professor at INCAE Businees School.

He was also a member of the Commission to Promote Competition from 2002 to 2005 and from 2012 to 2015.

The process of appointment of the manager now implies the ratification by the Legislative Assembly.
