Government has plan to evacuate prisoners ready

The Ministry of Justice and Peace already has an emergency plan in case the evacuation of more than 2,800 prisoners who are in risk areas as Pococí, San Carlos, Limón and Liberia is needed.

National authorities maintain a plan to give canned food and gas supply to prisons if electricity is missing.

In addition, it already has the necessary logistics for an emergency requiring the evacuation of prisoners.

In total, 2,828 prisoners live in the 3 centers under red alert. Therefore, since Wednesday, an institutional response commission was formed to plan and establish immediate action.
