Government insist on stopping Uber services

February 15, 2017 by Staff News Writer

The Government states it has no power to regulate Uber’s transport service. Authorities claim that it is illegal and therefore it should not operate.

This was stated by Sergio Alfaro, Minister of the Presidency, on Tuesday afternoon, during the Governing Council .

We believe this service is not allowed in the legislation and therefore , proposals for new structures on how public transport works should go to the Legislative Assembly,

said Alfaro.

The remarks come after the Uber company called the authorities of the country to contemplate legal measures, which allow the operation of new means of transportation.

Alfaro said that the government has not had a dialogue with Uber, because they can only act within the framework of legality and their hands are tied.
