Hearing against former legislator Jorge Angulo starts on Tuesday

January 10, 2017 by Staff News Writer

January 10th is the first day of the preliminary hearing to, once again, ask for the case against former legislator from the National Liberation Party (PLN), Jorge Angulo, to go to trial.

Angulo is accused of alleged crimes of extortion, embezzlement and influence peddling. He was to be tried by the Third Chamber in 2014, but a series of cardiac complications forced the suspension pf the debate. After completing his role as legislator, the case had to be seen by the Criminal Court of Finance.

The verdiblanco legislator was charged along with 11 people and record dates back to 2011. He was accused by representatives of the company Coinkrj SA, for charging fees in exchange for disbursements from the Development Board of the Southern Zone (Judesur) to remodel the Ítalo Costarricense school.
