November 10, 2016 by Staff News Writer

From November 9th, Heredia’s residents have free Internet service in several public places in the province.

This initiative of the local municipality became a reality thanks to a fiber network, which meant an investment of 13 million colones.

This first stage will facilitate access to Internet in 6 usually-crowded sites. They are:

-The Central Park.
-Alfredo González Flores Park.
-Nicolás Ulloa Park.
-Carmen (Manuel María Gutiérrez).
-The boulevard of Heredia.
-The Amphitheater and Omar Dengo Cultural Center.

The project aims to benefit the entire population, but especially students and workers who need Internet for small and medium enterprises and older adults who are learning about the use of technology.

Karla Espinoza, manager of communication from Movistar Costa Rica, declared that the wireless network (Wi fi) will be entirely managed and operated by that company, which will monitor all enabled networks in certain places 24 hours Of the day, 365 days of the year.

To use the Internet, citizens should only look for the open network with the name: “Municipality of Heredia.” To do this, the municipality placed labels that allow to identify the places where the service is available.

To log in, users only need to enter their names and emails.
