Homophobic signs keep appearing in Goicoechea

July 22, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Since June 6th, in Goicoechea, signs with homophobic threats have appeared. Authorities explained that a preliminary investigation has already started, so they are collecting and analyzing evidence.

Although there were some attempts to find more information, Karla Rivera, press assistant in the Public Prosecutor’s Office, indicated that this part of the process is private to third parties, as provided in Article 295 of the Rules of Criminal Procedure.

According to the institution, this research is based on Article 380 of the Criminal Code, which defines exclusion as a crime. It specifies that any type of discrimination based on social, racial origin, sex, age, religion or marital status is a crime.

Franklin Corella Vargas, Partido Acción Cuidadana deputy director, explained that the procedure will be like any other, with a stage of investigation, gathering evidence, hearings and punishing the responsible ones. To do this, it is important to count on Goicoechea local government.
