Housing Ministry to support families affected by Hurricane Otto

December 6, 2016 by Staff News Writer

On Monday, the Minister of Housing, Rosendo Pujol, said that the institution will provide support to families whose homes were damaged by Hurricane Otto.

Pujol said there are 2 severely damaged houses and about 10 houses with less damages in Altamira Bijagua, where they have already contacted the affected families.

President Luis Guillermo Solís said that people who suffered material damages will be supported either by the Joint Institute for Social Aid (IMAS) or through the Ministry of Housing.

There are about 1,100 families that have not been assessed yet and they have 1,200 million colones allocated to care for them.

Solís said that we must differentiate between the families who were affected by the hurricane and and poor families who were not in the affected areas.
