ICE launches app to support organic farmers

March 6, 2017 by Staff News Writer

The Costa Rican Electricity Institute (ICE) announced the release of Cr Orgánico, an app that allows consumers to locate organic products directly from producers, without intermediaries.

The application is available for both IOS and Android and allows people to locate producers, associations and fairs dedicated to organic agriculture throughout the country.

ICE, as technological partner of the project, has worked with the Association for the Organic Agriculture Movement in Costa Rica (ASOMAOCO) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG) to integrate information into the application.

Gloriana Solano, founding partner of Cartago’s Organic, said this mobile initiative is excellent because now all Costa Ricans can find a healthy supply of vegetables.

France Picado, head of Innovation and Business Strategy, said that with this app, ICE seeks to help both farmers and those who enjoy the consumption of organic food.
