If you like running and zombies, this activity is for you!

September 16, 2016 by Staff News Writer

On October 30th, the first edition of Run Zombie Run will take place in Costa Rica. It is 5-kilometer race in which participants will have to overcome obstacles to avoid catching the zombie virus.

The race consists of running and avoiding that ‘infected’ humans steal 3 ribbons, that participants will wear on a belt, before reaching the final goal.

Predator zombies will not be the only obstacles: competitors will face those who are in hordes.

If participants lose their ribbons, they will lose the competition, but a medal will be awarded.

Mauricio González, general manager of Mabu Productions, explained that the event will be held at the Parque La Libertad, in Desamparados, where a cement factory used to operate and its ruins become the perfect scenario for a zombie apocalypse.

That day, 15 races will be performed and every half an hour, a group will enter the the field to survive.

Zombies can’t touch people and viceversa: ribbons are what matter.

The cost of regular registration is 10,000 colones and premium registration is 15,000 colones. The second one includes an extra life and a T-shirt.

There will also be a children’s race at 9 am.
