IMN does not rule out cyclone alert in the Pacific

May 8, 2017 by Staff News Writer

The National Meteorological Institute (IMN) does not rule out or confirm the likelihood of a tropical cyclone forming in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Costa Rica by next week.

According to Rebeca Morera, IMN meteorologist, it’s too soon to talk about a cyclone. However, she said the National Hurricane Center (CNH) does not expect cyclonic activity during the next 48 hours.

We are following a low pressure system that could be affecting Central America in the next week,”

said the meteorologist.

At the moment the IMN ensures that given the magnitude of the system, it is still uncertain to predict where it will be located, although heavy rains will continue this week.
