Improvised shelter in Pococí using 4 wooden walls

November 25, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Rain is a constant in the cantons of the Caribbean. However, in Pococí, the neighbors also deal with strong wind gusts.

At about 9 o’clock in the morning of Thursday the wind started to really lash at them.

At that time, Don Fabio González lent his house to the neighbors to take refuge, after a tree fell very close to them.

Now, the house is a shelter. It consists of just 4 wooden walls, without doors or windows. But it is the “strongest.”

A few meters away from Don Fabio’s house, in the sector known as Rio Penitencia, the route is completely obstructed by a huge tree.

That caused 15 people to be trapped in Puerto Lindo, about 15 kilometers to the coast and where boats are taken to reach Barra del Colorado.
