In just three days, authorities seized more than two tons of drugs

October 8, 2017 by Staff News Writer

From Friday to Sunday, the Ministry of Public Security seized more than two tons of drugs.
• On Friday, 869 kilos of cocaine were confiscated in Golfo Dulce in the South Pacific.
• On Saturday, 384 kilos of cocaine were seized in Punta Burica.
• On Sunday, they found about a ton of drug in La Leona, on a beach located inside Corcovado National Park.
Gustavo Mata, Minister of Security, explained that drug traffickers are upgrading their strategies. A couple of months ago the hierarch warned that there would be an increase in drug trafficking in the region.

The Border Police, in a supervision carried out in Corcovado, managed to visualize an important amount of cocaine packages. They say there could be more than a ton. In 3 days a significant amount has been seized, because by Friday we had added 1,300 and with this finding we can be talking about two or two and a half tonnes,”

said Mata.

The Minister emphasized that from the photographs they presume the drug was attached to a buoy.

What these buoys do is mark the place where the drug is. Then they just identify them and take the cargo. We can say that they are using our seas to hide the drug,”

said Mata.

Mata explained they must increase security in the area in order to increase drug trafficking control.
