February 22, 2017 by Staff News Writer

INCOFER is negotiating a trust, which intends to finance the interurban electric train.

The project was already registered in the Project Bank of the Ministry of National Planning and Economic Policy (MIDEPLAN).

In June 2016, the Congress approved the initiative that allows INCOFER to negotiate, contract and execute medium.and-long-term, internal-and-external indebtedness, up to a maximum of 40% in relation to its total assets.

Last year Incofer’s executive director Guillermo Santana commented that they hoped that the construction of the train would start in order to connect Alajuela, Heredia, San José and Cartago. Hoowever, the works could be ready in three or four years.
