Influencers will clean beach in Puntarenas

November 21, 2018 by Staff News Writer

Twelve influencers from all over the world will tour Central America and stop in Costa Rica for a noble cause: cleaning a beach. The event will take place on Wednesday from 9:00 am on Cocal Beach, in Manuel Antonio, Puntarenas. The objective is to collect some of the remaining waste that arrives in the coast due to contamination.

The objective of these beach cleanups, rather than collecting garbage is to create awareness of the way we manage our consumption habits and the management of solid waste,”

said Carolina Sevilla, in charge of the initiative #5minutesbeachcleanup, which organizes the event in Costa Rica.

This Costa Rican foundation was recently created to foster environmental education. However, in social networks it already has more than 45 thousand followers and it has generated 20 thousand cleanups around the world.

#5minutesbeachcleanup is not only the name of the foundation, but also a dynamic: go to a beach, pick up trash and post the results on social networks with the hashtag so that more people join the cause.
