Instagram joins the fight against suicide

October 24, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Mark Zuckerberg, creator of Facebook, put a tool on that social network to prevent, or at least alert about suicides attempts. Therefore, now that Instagram is also under his wings, he decided to also include a tool to detect users who may be vulnerable.

Now, Instagram users can alert about a picture that could imply that a person has a tendency to suicide. Instagram will immediately contact that person and ask if they are going through a difficult time or need help.

It will also attach a number of tips and support, and an options to call and send messages to close friends and contact different associations that fight suicide.

The online news blog, Mashable, reported that this function can be used in the United States, Hong Kong and Australia, but will soon be available in every country.
