Jensen: “the accusation against me is entirely false”

August 18, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Chancellor of the University of Costa Rica (UCR) Henning Jensen complained about the accusations made against him and declared that many of them are “entirely false”.

He was accused of approving a budget to support his daughter so she could occupy an acting position in the UCR, specifically in the Children’s Center Laboratory (CIL).

In a report, the University Comptroller informed that this budget was approved by Dr. Henning Jensen Pennington, despite not being able to do so because of their family relationship.

The chancellor of the UCR is confident; he declared that his actions have legal backing.

He added that he could not delegate this function, so he had to approve the budget: the Law on Public Administration forced him to do so. However, the rules of the UCR disqualified him.

Although the University Council is now looking for ways to start an internal investigation against Jensen, the chancellor believes the best thing they can do is to wait for a response from prosecutors. By doing this, it could decide if a removal from office could take place.
