Juan Santamaría airfield increased capacity and efficiency

August 13, 2019 by Staff News Writer

For 10 years, the AERIS company of the CCR Group has worked with the objective of providing Costa Rica with an efficient airport infrastructure that contributes to the development of the country’s air traffic. All this together with the Supervisory Body (OFGI) and the Civil Aviation Technical Council (CETAC),

Since its arrival in 2009, AERIS prioritized the execution of different works in the airfield. One of them was the rehabilitation of the track, which was given asphalt treatment and full paint, after years of no improvements.

At present, the maintenance of the runway of the Juan Santamaría International Airport (AIJS) and the equipment that AERIS has for this purpose, are a reference in the region according to the Latin American Association of Airport Pavements (ALACPA).

This rehabilitation, together with the construction of the new remote ramp, was part of the Remediation Plan projects executed by the Manager, from June 2009 to December 2010, which allowed to meet the demand with 10 additional positions in a single project of parking for aircraft.
