July had a violent start

The last couple of days have been extremely violent in the national territory: the authorities registered nine deaths in Limón, Orotina, Pavas, and Siquirres.

On Monday afternoon there was a triple homicide in a bunker in Orotina. There, a man, a woman and a minor died. This crimes joins the triple homicide that occurred on Sunday in Limón, where a man who tried to assault the owners of a supermarket and some booths killed father and two children.

The victims were identified as Roger Gouting Feng, Youcong Esteban Feng Leang, and Youwei Feng Leang.

In addition, on Sunday there was a homicide in Siquirres after two men had a fight. The victim was Nicaraguan Mario Antonio Flores Reyes, 46 years old.

Similarly, on Saturday at 11 pm, a 26 year old man was found in Pavas with a bullet in the head inside a pool. The victim was Garcia Junes.

The number of homicides so far this year reaches 312 cases, 28 more than those that occurred on the same date of 2017.

One of the most striking aspects is that so far in 2018 there are have been six triple homicides, in addition to three quadruple killings that have hit the national territory. The authorities attribute this increase in violence to organized crime and drug trafficking.
