Kidnapping gang had two leaders and complex structure

An extortion and kidnapping gang had two leaders and a complex structure, as determined by the Organized Crime Section after conducting 15 raids on Tuesday.

The organization kidnapped a woman on September 30th, then asked the family for $200 thousand, and finally released here on October 4th in Escazú.

According to Cristian Montenegro, head of the Organized Crime Section, at that time they arrested six people, one woman and five men, and seized two vehicles.

The raids carried out this Tuesday, managed the arrest of 12 subjects, one of them a minor. The operations were executed Cartafo in Quircot, Caballo Blanco, Paraíso and Taras, in addition to Coronado, Barrio Córdoba, and Alajuelita in San José.

According to Cristian Montenegro, they arrested two leaders. A man of oriental origin, known as “Chino Zen”, who had links with the victim’s family, and another subject named Aguilar Mata.

The chief noted that Aguilar Mata would apparently be a violent subject.

The officer mentioned that in this case, 18 people have been arrested and there are only two remaining to be arrested: Jefrey de Jesús Bejarano Leitón (28 years old), who has criminal records for crimes against property, and Miguel Arturo Segura Quirós (58 years old), who does not have pending issues with justice.
