From November 8th until November 11th, Korea will take control of Cine Magaly movie theatre since the Korean Film Festival 2016 will take place. People will enjoy four Korean productions to be presented for free again.

The inauguration was on November 8th and movies will be showed at 6 p. m.

As a growing industry, film is one of the many arts through which history and Korean values are projected, so we are looking forward to offering the Costa Rican public the opportunity to enjoy our culture through the big screen as part of the goals of our diplomatic mission,

declared Ambassador Young Wook Chun.

The festival started with “Battlefield Heroes”, a comical story centered in the seventh century which tells how strategist YooShin Kim, who intends to unify Korea, warns about China’s desire to control Korean peninsula, so he secretly conspires to join forces with the Korean kingdom of Goguryeo and thwart the expansion of the Chinese Tang empire.

On November 9th “Very Ordinary Couple” will be presented. It is a film which tells the love story between Dong-hee and Jang Young, who kept a courtship in his youth and, after years, they resume their relationship and face several situations.

On November 10th “The Suspect” will steal the show. It is an action film about a North Korean agent who tries to find and avenge his wife and son, who were sold as slaves to China. However, he is forced to hide after being blamed for the murder of an important figure.

The cycle will close on November 11th with “The Front Line”, which places its events near the end of the Korean War, when a battalion of South Korea struggles to conquer a hill in the front row of the Border with the North.

The functions will be open to the public and will have Spanish subtitles. For more information, visit the Festival Facebook profile or call to 2220-3160.
