La Mackavela: a company where you can learn how to prepare craft beer

December 12, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Are you a craft-beer lover? So are Alexander and Sandy. They are teachers in a very different school.

3 years ago, they learned to prepare craft beer for their own consumption, but their friends and relatives loved it so much that they decided to start their own business: La Mackavela, a craft-beer company.

However, they needed finance and a year ago they started offering workshops to teach how to make beer at home and so self-finance the company.

The workshops were so successful that their business turned into La Cervecera Academia Cervecera. They offer workshops on weekends at the restaurant Le Cook, in Barrio Escalante.

You can learn everything about the process of making craft beer and you will also be evaluated, so you can show what you’ve learnt.

This first year, a thousand people enrolled in the workshops and some of them already have their own businesses. The Academy receives groups up to 20 people.

They also have a forum on Facebook, with nearly 200 people, in which students can clarify doubts and share their achievements.
