La Platina Bridge will be closed over the weekend

May 11, 2017 by Staff News Writer

The areas surrounding bridge Alfredo González Flores, known as la Platina, will remain closed, from Saturday at 10 p.m. until Sunday at 5 p.m., despite the fact that on April 28th, Transport Minister Carlos Villalta said that the closure due to the long weekend of May 1st would be the last.

So if you go from Alajuela to San José keep in mind that heavy trucks will not be able to transit from the crossing of the EPA hardware store in Belén, and light vehicles won’t be able to transit from the Conservatory Castella.

All motorists must leave General Cañas highway at the height of the Bridge Juan Pablo II towards La Pozuelo.

This was confirmed by Mauricio Sojo, engineer of Conservation of Roads and Bridges of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MOPT).

This closure is due to the construction of the drainage for the General Cañas highway.

If the work is completed earlier than expected, it will enable the lanes immediately.
