La Platina work completion date is still March 15th

February 24, 2017 by Staff News Writer

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MOPT) informed that the work completion date in La Platina bridge is still March 15th.

In addition, Minister Carlos Villalta said that the total closures will not longer take place.

Regarding the measures to reduce the impact of the works on General Cañas Highway users, the minister said they will have to make some adjustments.

We urge users of private vehicle to try to use the means of public transport,

insisted the hierarch.
He added that Virilla river bridge, between Jardines and Pozuelo, on the road to Heredia, will start operating on March 9th. It will be named Yolanda Oreamuno.

New measures:

1. Light weight trucks (CL plate) will be able to travel on the bridge even during the restriction schedules.
2. Light vehicles shall be allowed to use the bridge in the restricted time areas on the day after the vehicle restriction.

On this last point, authorities clarified that it would mean an increase of 20% of traffic through the bridge.

Authorities indicated that the deadline to enable both directions would be March 15th, but they are trying to reduce it. The deadline to enable the 6 lanes is April 30th.
