September 9, 2018 by Staff News Writer

In 2018, more than 300 trees have been planted in La Sabana, thanks to the reforesting program that is 68% complete to date.

On Saturday, 75 new trees were planted during the fourth volunteering day for the project Rearborización del Parque Metropolitano La Sabana. The goal is to have 450 new trees by the end of this year.

This project is the result of an alliance between the Instituto Costarricense de Deporte y Recreación (ICODER) and Scotiabank, and after eight years of intervention in La Sabana, this is the progress:

4.668 new trees planted (93% of the goal).
235 different native species (108% of the goal).
51 volunteering days

The fifth volunteering day in 2018 will be held on September 22nd.
