Legislator Juan Marín dies in a tragic accident

November 16, 2017 by Staff News Writer

The death of legislator Juan Marín, representative of the National Liberation Party for the province of Guanacaste, was confirmed on Thursday morning. Marín died in a traffic accident that occurred early this morning at the toll road of Río Segundo, on the General Cañas highway.

According to the Red Cross and Fire Department report, the congressman’s vehicle collided against one of the toll barriers and death was immediate.

The colleagues of the legislator are clearly affected by the news. The head of fraction Karla Prendas indicated that the information had been confirmed by Marín’s daughter and wife, who told her that the congressman called them before leaving a meeting to let them know that he would be late, but he never arrived.

At this moment, Public Force officials are guarding the body waiting for the authorities of the Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) to arrive.
