Lightning strike caused neighbors of Moravia to be left without power service and water supply

May 29, 2017 by Staff News Writer

The water treatment plant of the AyA of Los Sitios de Moravia was out of order due to a lightning strike in the sector, leaving several zones of the canton without water supply.

As reported by the institution on its Facebook page, 18 thousand people were affected in the areas of Andre Chale, Los Sitios, La Torre, Colibrí, Unempot, La Fabiola, Los Robles, Los Llanos de Toledo, Monteverde, Guayabal, Calle El Ruano, Calle Victoria, El Ciprés, Paracito, Calle Manantial, El Príncipe, La Isla and surroundings.

The National Power and Light Company (CNFL) was in charge of repairing the system.

According to Luis Fernando Andrés, director of distribution of the CNFL, they finished doing the repairs. What happened is that, because of the lightning, several neighborhoods ran out of power because the fuses protected the network.
