Lincoln School says it acted immediately in the face of shooting threats

October 25, 2018 by Staff News Writer

On October 23rd, a mother alerted the authorities of Lincoln School after reading a WhatsApp group chat where students received threats from a young woman saying that she would carry out a shooting.

The School assured through a statement sent by the public relations firm CAC Porter Novelli that

it acted immediately and took the necessary measures to control a situation that occurred on Tuesday night.”

The educational institution ensures that they realized that the issues addressed in the chat could affect the safety of the school and its community.

Given the nature of the matter, the Administration took additional security measures to those already in place. It is important to note that there were never students with weapons in their hands inside the school facilities […] As a preventive measure, the school suspended the suspects indefinitely, while conducting an investigation to make a full assessment and determine the penalties according to the regulations of Lincoln School and the legal framework.

Ana María Porras, the school’s communications officer, confirmed that the messages not only mentioned the alleged intention to carry out a shooting inside the school but also showed images of a firearm and ammunition.
