Long weekend affected Alajuela hospital

August 17, 2016 by Staff News Writer

The emergency service of San Rafael de Alajuela Hospital collapsed during the weekend, as confirmed by Francisco Pérez, director of the medical center.

A photograph published in Noticias de Última Hora Alajuela Facebook page showed the situation.

According to Pérez, it was a consequence of the long weekend. There were 17 people who had to be assisted by orthopedics on Tuesday.

As a result, they could call off the scheduled evening surgeries in order to give priority to emergencies.

Surgeries that were already scheduled for Wednesday will take place and doctors don’t dismiss the idea of operating during the next two weekends.
