February 8, 2018 by Staff News Writer

The National Symphony Orchestra of Costa Rica will offer the inhabitants of five communities of San José, Alajuela, Cartago and Heredia the possibility of listening to music under the stars.

“Lunada Sinfónica” is the name of the tour that will begin this on February 9th and that will be offered for free. The ensemble will be directed by Costa Rican Alejandro Gutiérrez and will have 75 musicians.

This tour is intended to bring together the Costa Rican community so they can appreciate music from a wide variety of genres. The repertoire includes orchestral classics such as Franz Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody, Johann Strauss’s Voces de Primavera, as well as Latin American music by composers from Spain, Mexico, Venezuela and, of course, Costa Rica,”

commented the director.

The concert is a show that is aimed at adults and children and will be held in five places that are easily accessible. The five venues will be:

• Friday, February 9th, 7 p.m.: Metropolitan Cathedral of San José
• Sunday, February 11th, 5 p.m.: Rafael Rodríguez Gym, San Ramón
• Tuesday, February 13th, 7 p.m.: Parish of Tres Ríos, La Unión, Cartago
• Thursday, February 15th, 7 p.m.: Catholic Church of Santa Bárbara, Heredia
• Friday, February 16th, 7 p.m.: Catholic Church of San Juan, Tibás
