Mamatón: the Breastfeeding marathon

August 1, 2016 by Staff News Writer

On August 3rd, at 11 am, a women’s protest will take place in the boulevard in front of the Legislative Assembly. It is called: Mamatón: the Breastfeeding marathon.

Adriana Castillo, one of the promoters of the activity, explained that it is done because her sister-in-law, who worked with Marco Vinicio Redondo, Partido Acción Ciudadana’s member, was fired during her maternity leave.

Castillo wrote an email:

She is breastfeeding because she has a child who turned one year on July 25th and he has been very sick, both have spent almost two months in the hospital! And about 10 days ago she had an abortion (she was 2 months pregnant). Due to the circumstances, she was incapacitated, Everything was legally done: she has her proper receipts, records and other documents.

According to legislator Redondo, the woman was no longer breastfeeding. He claimed that that period had ended on July 8th and she did not file an extension request.
