Man caught smuggling pills for erectile dysfunction

January 16, 2017 by Staff News Writer

A man smuggled a big kit with erectile dysfunction pills, contraceptives and various types of antibiotics from Nicaragua, but authorities caught him when traveling through Los Angeles de La Fortuna, in San Carlos.

A motorcyclist named Vásquez was arrested on Saturday after the authorities found 400 units of these drugs in a bag while searching him in a checkpoint. Most of these pills require a prescription.

Half of the drugs were antibiotics such as amoxicillin and tetracycline. The rest were pills to treat erectile dysfunction, which also need a doctor’s prescription, and the others were contraceptives.

The products are now in the hands of the regional office of the Ministry of Health, where they will be destroyed, because there is no guarantee that they are in good condition, nor is it known if they contain other substances.
