Mass activities will be banned a year from now

February 7, 2017 by Staff News Writer

The next national elections are on Sunday February 4th, 2018. Therefore, the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) reminded the ban on mass events involving large mobilizations of people or disrupting the free transit by that date.

Football matches or concerts, for example, must be programmed for other dates. It should be noted that this measure will be extended to on April 1st and 2nd, if a second round is needed.

The TSE also asked the Ministry of Public Education (MEP) to schedule the beginning of the academic year for February 5th 2018, as many schools and colleges will be used as polling stations, and after the Elections, it is necessary to have time for rearrangements and preparations.

This reminder was sent to the Ministers of Health and of Culture and Youth and the Minister of Sport and the heads of the Costa Rican Institute of Sport and Recreation, the National Olympic Committee, the 81 municipalities and the sports federations of the country.
