Matina’s dike broke and isolated the community

January 15, 2018 by Staff News Writer

As a result of the overflow of Matina’s river, the dike of the area broke along 200 meters between the cemetery and Finca La Luisa on Monday at 3 o’clock in the afternoon.

According to the Fire Department, the four-mile community was isolated with the situation.

Initially, a damage of 50 meters was calculated, but the river force expanded the opening. This is a preliminary information, because it is a bit difficult and risky to approach the affected place,”

said the institution.

This sector is home to workers from banana production companies, but animals also live on the farms.
