Members of the Inspection Board will have new responsibilities

March 3, 2017 by Staff News Writer

Members of the Inspection Board of the Institute of Cooperative Development (INFOCOOP) will establish new responsibilities based on the results of the financial-matter investigations.

The measure is part of the guidelines of executive decree 40214-MP-MTSS, published on March 2nd. It details the intervention process that will last 9 months, and it could be extended.

The document indicates that the managers will have to investigate the existing complaints about the institution and to take them before the competent authorities to place the administrative, civil and penal responsibilities.

The functions also include the execution of a methodology, assessment and calculation of institutional risks, the definition of an internal policy that guarantees a fair distribution of the credits and services provided by INFOCOOP.

Managers should create measures to guarantee financial sustainability and establish internal control mechanisms to monitor the use of public funds managed by the institution.

The decree also establishes studies of social and economic impact that support the differentiated rates that are given in credits to cooperatives, as well as the creation of a strategic plan for 2018-2022 period.

The executives will also have to work on the proposal of a model of cooperative development.

The new directors of the cooperative sector are Elías Calderón de Coopesantos, Omar Bolaños, from Coopevictoria, Nidia Solano and Ana Luisa Calvo, both from the service and self-management sector.
