MEP forced teacher to give “100” grades to students who did not fulfill an assignment

December 14, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Two students from the Vicente Lachner High School in Cartago, who did not submit a Civic project, received the grade of “100”.

The teacher gave them a “1” because during the whole second quarter of this year they did not give any advance of the project nor the final work. However the Ministry ordered him  to change the grade to “100” on October 26th.

The complaint came to the Ministry of Public Education last August. The mother of one of the students filed an appeal to change the grade obtained by her son and his partner.

The MEP justifies its decision in a resolution specifying that the teacher should grade the project in stages and that the teacher did not provide sufficient evidence to support his claim that the students did not deliver any of the reports in stages.

The teacher assures that there was nothing to qualify since the students did not present anything.

let’s continue to approve mediocre people, with high qualifications so that they later become professionals like that doctor from the Marcial Fallas Clinic,”

added the teacher.
