Two Mexican nationals were arrested on Sunday morning by the immigration police in Peñas Blancas when they discovered that the men had fake entry stamps.
Meza Muñoz and Solorio Esquivel showed up to the migration control to leave the country. The authorities, in reviewing the system, found that the Mexicans had entry stamps from Paso Canoas, but it was verified they had not entered the country by that sector. Therefore, the authorities assume they came here illegally and used false stamps.
Both men were referred to the Public Prosecutor’s Office and they’ll probably be deported.
Costa Rican authorities are intensifying the controls on entry, exit and status of foreigners in the country after Canada’s Elías Akl was assassinated last Monday in front of Mount View Education Center in Escazú.
President Luis Guillermo Solís and the authorities made it clear that all undesirable foreigners were being expelled.
Migration reported that on May 19th and 20th, they carried out operations in different parts of the country. They arrested several people in Turrialba, Desamparados and San Carlos. In addition, there were also 27 rejections of admission to the country for not submitting the corresponding documents.
