Ministry of Finance: CCSS is not aware of the situation

August 23, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Helio Fallas, Ministry of Finance made some statements and answered questions regarding the increase of the state contribution to the Regime of Disability, Old Age and Death (IVM) requested by the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS).

There are different criteria because the CCSS just presented a number to Treasury assuming that it had to pay it, without knowing the financial situation. The Fund and the Ministry didn’t meet before, as consequence, authorities are currently studying the proposal and requesting a meeting with CCSS representatives,

stated Fallas.

After eight years of fiscal debt, financing CCSS request means to go into further debt.
