Ministry of Security and the communities are united in the fight against drugs

October 17, 2016 by Staff News Writer

The officers of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) and the communities are fighting together against the drug problem.

In this fight, schools, neighbors and young adults are part of the preventive programs developed by the MSP. There are now more than 15,000 students who have benefited from these programs.

Nearly 200 communities are organized in the MPS’s programs that allow citizens to prevent criminal actions and provide ways to better coordinate and work with the police, as pointed out by deputy minister of Public Security, María Fullmen Salazar.

One goal is to establish better communication with local governments to engage communities into the prevention plans.

We recently had a meeting with young adults from La Carpio, Leo XIII of Tibás, in Alajuelita, and for the first time, regional directors and heads of delegations talked with them to analyze their concerns, “

explained Fullmen.
